Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

S welcomes unsolicited articles on the forthcoming topics announced on the Home page. We do not charge authors any publication or submission fees.

Please submit your essays in MLA format. You can download a PDF Quick Guide from Dalhousie University Library here: https://cdn.dal.ca/content/dam/dalhousie/pdf/library/Style_Guides/MLA_QuickGuide_8th_Edition.pdf

General Articles are submitted for double blind peer review. Articles for special issues are peer reviewed by the editors of the thematic dossier.

Previously cited material can be referred to in the body of the text using either the author's name or a shortened version of the text title (in cases of multiple texts by the same author).

For additional information, please see the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (most recent edition) and the MLA style website.
